POSITION SUMMARY: Resource Support Programs (RSP) are provided to students with identified disabilities who demonstrate an increased need in one or more academic domains. The Para educator's duties will include assisting with special education students ranging in one-on-one to small group instructional activities, under the supervision of the certificated teacher/specialist. Other duties will include assisting with a variety of clerical tasks and the supervision of students assigned.

- Tutor individuals and/or groups in specific skills as directed by the teacher.
- When trained, will assist the teacher in administering special instructional and or behavioral programs.
- Communicate and work with related resource personnel.
- Supervise students in accordance with the school and district policies.
- Plan daily/weekly with the teachers and other staff members servicing the same students.
- Assist students and teacher with record keeping.
- Assist the teacher in the communicating with other building/district staff members.
- Assist the teacher in communicating with parents.
- Discuss information pertaining to students with teacher or other appropriate staff within your building.
- Inform the advising teacher to any observed problems or information regarding an individual student.
- Give positive reinforcement to students during the school day.
- Assist with the room maintenance and control of books and equipment.
- Assist substitute teacher with helpful information pertinent to the classroom.
- Practice effective safety and security within individual work routines.
POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports kindergarten scholars in literacy and mathematics and is under the direction of the certified kindergarten teacher. The employee will assist with a variety of instructional tasks and supervision of scholars. The major aspect of the para educator's duties will include assisting with students with reading, mathematics, and other academic support, ranging from one-on-one to small group activities.

- Under the direction of the certified teacher, the para educator will assist students with meeting their academic goals/objectives.
- Facilitate one on one and small group learning to support literacy and numeracy.
- Collaborate with certificated staff around scholar learning goals.
- Maintain and share accurate records of scholar learning and progress towards goals.
- Develop and maintain a positive rapport with students and staff.
- Assist the teacher in preparing the classroom for academics.
- Report and direct any questions or concerns made by parents or support staff to the immediate supervisor.
- Practice effective safety and security within individual work routines.
Assist with supervision of scholars during lunch, recess, and transitional periods during their school day.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform instructional clerical tasks.
- Annually attend 4-5 district trainings regarding academic support
- Work collaboratively with District staff and promote teamwork with co-workers.
- Assist substitute teacher with helpful information pertinent to the classroom.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Per Federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Regulations, new hires must have:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- And one of the following
:- AA degree
- 48 College-Level Semester Credits
- 72 College-Level Quarter Credits
- Pass the state approved Para Pro Assessment
Proficient in basic spelling, math and grammar skills
Experienced and/or training in reading instruction, remediation, and assessment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Experience working with students with disabilities
Training in early childhood education
Training in literacy
Experience working with student in early learning
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:- Pass a criminal background check
- Complete the district's para educator core competency requirements
- Possess and maintain Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) certificated course
