Position Overview
Green River College’s Journalism Department is seeking a journalism generalist adjunct faculty to teach face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online communication studies courses.
Responsibilities- Teach courses including JOURN 101—Multimedia Journalism, JOURN 103—Introduction to Public Relations, JOURN 104—Newswriting (not offered until 26‑27 AY), JOURN 105—Advanced Newswriting (not offered until 26‑27 AY), JOURN 108—Mobile and Social Media Journalism, JOURN 115—Multimedia Writing and Creation, JOURN 116—Advanced Multimedia Writing and Creation, JOURN 150—Introduction to Broadcasting & Digital Media, JOURN 157—Social Media & Broadcast Marketing, and JOURN 165—Careers in Digital Media.
- Develop, teach, and assess course syllabi and learning outcomes in face‑to‑face, hybrid, HyFlex, and online settings.
- Assist in creating new courses for the 26‑27 AY, including an introductory/principles of journalism course, sports journalism courses, an introduction to photojournalism course, and media law and ethics.
- Work with the department to design courses aligned with the expertise of newly hired adjunct faculty.
- Master’s degree in Journalism or Public Relations‑related disciplines, earned by July 1, 2025.
- Experience teaching journalism topics in higher‑education settings.
- Employment or educational experience in a community or technical college system serving diverse student populations.
- Experience using current technology and learning management systems (Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, D2L, etc.) to deliver equitable and accessible instruction.
- Experience developing and teaching course curricula in face‑to‑face, hybrid, HyFlex, or online settings.
The salary will be determined according to the bargaining agreement between the Board of Trustees Community College District No. 10 and the Green River United Faculty Coalition.
