Pay: $25.00/hour
Schedule: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays; hours vary based on rider enrollment and scheduled lessons.
About Young Hearts Therapeutic RidingYoung Hearts Therapeutic Riding is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and adults with disabilities through equine-assisted services. We create a welcoming, supportive environment where participants build confidence, strength, communication, and independence through meaningful interactions with horses.
Position SummaryYoung Hearts Therapeutic Riding is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and enthusiastic Therapeutic Riding Instructor to provide safe, engaging adaptive riding lessons for individuals with a variety of physical, cognitive, developmental, and emotional needs.
This is a part-time position with hours determined by participant enrollment and scheduled lessons. Weekly hours may vary as the program grows.
Responsibilities- Plan and teach adaptive horseback riding lessons for children and adults with disabilities.
- Ensure the safety of participants, volunteers, horses, and staff at all times.
- Direct and support volunteers during lessons.
- Match horses appropriately to riders based on abilities and goals.
- Maintain accurate lesson notes and participant progress.
- Assist with horse preparation before and after lessons.
- Communicate professionally with families, caregivers, volunteers, and staff.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming barn environment.
- Participate in occasional special events and program activities as needed.
- Experience with horses, riding, and safe horse handling required.
- Experience teaching horseback riding or therapeutic riding preferred.
- Comfortable working with individuals with disabilities.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Reliable, organized, and able to work independently.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.
- PATH Intl. certification preferred but not required. Training opportunities may be available for the right candidate.
