About the College
Green River College has a diverse student body and multiple campuses in Washington. It serves a broad range of learners, including high‑school graduates, dual‑enrollment students, workforce retraining applicants, international students, English learners, and continuing‑education participants.
Purpose of PositionAdjunct faculty will teach General Astronomy (ASTRO & 101), a five‑credit course covering contemporary astronomy from the solar system to the universe. The course includes laboratory work designed to introduce students to common astronomy methods and techniques.
ResponsibilitiesTeach the course using a variety of instructional methods and modes of instruction to support student success. Adapt teaching to accommodate students from diverse backgrounds and interests.
Minimum QualificationsMaster’s degree in a closely related physical science (physics, astrophysics, chemistry, or geophysics) with successful teaching experience at the college level, preferably in astronomy; or a Master’s degree in astronomy with some college‑level teaching experience.
