Probation Clerk
The Auburn Municipal Court is looking for a Probation Clerk to add to the team! Be a part of the rewarding probation services division of Auburn Municipal Court. As part of the probation services team you will provide tools, resources and support to the justice involved while promoting public safety and accountability to the community. There is a shared vision in the court to provide trust, innovation and accessibility to court users and this extends to probation.
Probation services will used evidence based practices and techniques to enforce court orders and provide options to clients.
This position performs confidential administrative and technical work in support of Municipal Court probation operations and staff. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, maintaining case files and records; processing court referrals and documents; entering and retrieving information from court and probation systems; synchronizing appointments and referrals; assisting with routine client inquiries; and providing general administrative support to Probation Officers and probation leadership.
The position communicates with court personnel, treatment providers, community agencies, and other justice-system partners to obtain and process information necessary to support probation operations. Matters requiring professional assessment, interpretation of court orders, compliance determinations, case-management decisions, or the exercise of probationary authority are referred to a Probation Officer or supervisor.
The City of Auburn is conducting this recruitment to establish a qualified hiring pool in anticipation of City Council consideration and approval of funding for this position as part of the City's budget process in September 2026. Candidates may participate in the recruitment, interview, and selection process prior to final budget approval; however, no appointment or offer of employment will be made unless and until the position and associated funding receive all required City approvals.
The resulting eligibility/hiring pool may be used to fill this position following approval and may also be used to fill similar vacancies, as appropriate.

In this job, you will:
- Provide administrative and technical support to probation staff in the day-to-day operation of Municipal Court probation services.
- Enter, update, verify, and retrieve information in court, probation, criminal justice, and other authorized information systems; maintains electronic records, case notes, reports, spreadsheets, and tracking tools.
- Monitor individuals assigned to monitored probation in accordance with established procedures; reviews court orders and authorized records, tracks and documents compliance, and reports potential non-compliance to probation staff and the Court as appropriate.
- Assist with drug and alcohol testing processes and related documentation in accordance with established procedures, training, and safety requirements.
What we are looking for:
- Graduation from High school, or equivalent.
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative, court, legal, criminal justice, social-service, case-support, or closely related experience involving public contact, records, data systems, or detailed case/document processing.
- Valid Washington state driver's license without pending risk of loss at time of appointment.
