Overview
Boeing Commercial Airplanes invites students and recent graduates of certified Boeing Pre‑Employment Training (BPET) programs to join our Fabrication team as an Assembler Sub‑Assembly/Fastener in Auburn, Algona, and Puyallup, Washington. As an assembler, you will focus on assembling fasteners and related components, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with stringent specifications.
Position Responsibilities- Perform rework, repairs, pickups, functional checks, and authorized changes; maintain required skill level for all tasks.
- Select appropriate parts, materials, tools, and assemblies; determine work sequence as necessary.
- Report job‑related issues (e.g., errors in parts, materials, or assembly procedures) following shop procedures outlined by the supervisor.
- Use precision measuring instruments to ensure accuracy in work assignments.
- Execute fabrication tasks: reaming, drilling, riveting, sanding, filing, grinding, shaping sheet‑metal parts, forming, countersinking, crimping, and other operations.
- Prepare and mix adhesives, cements, and foams for bonding, sealing, and riveting detail parts and components.
- Load, unload, and operate ovens for sealing or bonding detail parts to assemblies.
- Apply protective materials to assemblies to ensure durability and compliance with specifications.
- Assemble, locate, and install mechanical accessories such as latches, locks, pulleys, and levers.
- Work with various materials, including plastics, extrusions, castings, and forgings, during assembly operations.
- Route, clamp, and secure electrical installation components as required for work assignments.
- Coordinate, prepare, and manage the movement of materials within the assigned area to ensure efficient workflow.
- Assemble, join, mechanically fasten, or rework parts and assemblies to create sub‑assemblies that meet quality requirements, following established processes and procedures.
- Identify and locate points, parts, and assemblies using established reference lines or index points; derive measurements from drawings, prints, and other documentation.
- Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10–15 lbs to 15–35 lbs.
- Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.
- Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.
- Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.
- Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.
- Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.
- Student or recent graduate of a Boeing Pre‑Employment Training course certified for the 20104 Assembler Sub‑Assembly-Fastener role.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Ability to lift 35 lbs.
- High school graduate or GED preferred.
Position is expected to be 100% onsite at one of the listed locations:
Auburn, Algona, or Puyallup, Washington. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense. This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements; a “US Person” (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) is required. Current Boeing employees in Puget Sound must submit a Employee Request Transfer (ERT) to be considered.
Pay: $24.32/hour, with potential to earn up to $53.30/hour under the relevant collective bargaining agreement. Benefits include health insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance, and a range of paid and unpaid time‑away programs. Relocation assistance is not provided.
Union RepresentationThis hourly position is governed by the International Association of Machinists (IAM‑751) Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Shift WorkShift work may vary based on business needs. Work may include multiple shifts and overtime as required.
