Material Handler Day Shift

Operates forklift to receive, deliver, and otherwise move materials between and throughout two adjacent manufacturing buildings (North and South). Primary task is to receive orders from production lines and deliver requested materials, using the forklift to unload incoming cargo containers and move materials around the facility. The role also assists in month‑end counting, accuracy verification, and maintaining inventory records.

Pay Range: $22.50 – $24.50 per hour

Shift: 1st Shift, Monday–Thursday, 4:00 am – 2:30 pm, plus overtime based on production needs, including frequent work on Fridays and some Saturdays.

• Supports production lines by communicating with the previous shift to determine order sequence and completion.
• Receives order paperwork, incoming radio call, or in‑person request for materials.
• Reviews order and/or writes down verbal order information on notepad.
• Orders needed PVC profile materials from extrusion.
• Obtains materials from the North building (supply area), extrusion, receiving areas in South building, or elsewhere within the South building.
• Delivers materials to appropriate production line in a timely manner.
• Prioritizes orders and determines sequence of delivery.
• Identifies when to stop one task and begin another based on production needs.
• Unloads incoming materials from cargo containers in either building.
• Moves unused glass materials from staging area into waste container.
• Moves unused PVC materials from fabrication staging area to extrusion department for re‑use.
• Communicates clearly with internal customers and records order information.
• Operates forklift safely and effectively using both hands and feet, and visual and auditory senses.

• Ability to read, write and speak simple English as appropriate to a manufacturing environment.
• Can read production tags, paperwork, safety warning labels, and signs; can verbally communicate with coworkers, leads and supervisor regarding the production process and safety information.
• Can read a tape measure to the 1/16th inch and convert it to a decimal.
• Can perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Can handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations and prioritize work tasks according to production requirements.
• Knowledge of all safety practices and procedures and broad knowledge of production line positions, products and procedures.

• Common sense, positive attitude, excellent attendance and performance under stress.
• Quality and safety conscious, team player.
• Can work quickly with product, lift and carry up to 75 pounds for short distances, and operate a forklift.
• Can manipulate forklift controls (steering wheel, gears, levers, foot pedals) simultaneously.
• Can operate forklift while visually scanning the environment, and concentrate for sustained periods.
• Good communication skills and ability to interact with people.
• Can perform frequent push/pull, bend, kneel/squat, twist, reach, grasp, pinch, climb and work at heights when operating forklift.

Manufacturing environment: open plant, cement floors, stationary machinery, moving equipment, exposure to various chemicals, solvents, glass and vinyl dust (MSDS available upon request).
