Manufacturing Work Instruction Specialist

Are you someone who can read a blueprint and turn it into clear, step-by-step instructions for the production floor? We are hiring a Manufacturing Work Instruction Specialist for a documentation-focused role supporting a wire harness/electrical manufacturing environment. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in manufacturing, first article inspection, wire harness or electrical assembly, quality documentation, or blueprint interpretation who wants to use their technical knowledge in a role that directly supports production accuracy and consistency.

This is not a standard assembly role. In this position, you will review blueprints, engineering drawings, schematics, bills of materials, and customer requirements to create and maintain clear manufacturing work instructions.

Location:

Auburn, WA

Schedule:

Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM Pay: $20.00–$25.00 per hour, depending on experience

Responsibilities

As a Work Instruction Specialist, you will:

  • Review blueprints, engineering drawings, schematics, BOMs, and customer requirements.
  • Create, format, and maintain clear step-by-step work instructions for production teams.
  • Develop and update SOPs, visual aids, process documents, and manufacturing procedures.
  • Translate technical information into easy-to-follow instructions for the production floor.
  • Support first article, production, quality, and engineering teams with accurate documentation.
  • Identify discrepancies in drawings, BOMs, or work instructions and communicate needed updates.
  • Maintain organized documentation and support revision control requirements.
  • Use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint to create and manage documents and reports.
  • Help ensure production documentation supports quality, consistency, and compliance.
Requirements

Qualified candidates will have:

  • At least 1 year of experience in manufacturing, production support, engineering support, quality, technical documentation, or a related environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, BOMs, and technical specifications.
  • Experience creating, updating, or working closely with manufacturing work instructions, SOPs, job guides, travelers, or production documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to organize technical information clearly.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, quality standards, and production workflows.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with production, quality, and engineering teams.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
Preferred Experience
  • Wire harness, cable assembly, electrical assembly, or aerospace manufacturing experience.
  • First article inspection or quality documentation experience.
  • Document control or revision-controlled documentation experience.
  • Experience with BOMs, routers, travelers, work orders, or ERP systems.

This position is ideal for someone who understands hands-on manufacturing but wants to move into a more technical, documentation-focused role. You'll use your knowledge of blueprints, production processes, and quality requirements to help create instructions that make the manufacturing process more accurate, organized, and repeatable.
