Your Day at Lowe'sYou will welcome customers, help them find and select appropriate products and services, occasionally load merchandise, and ensure all customer needs are met. Most of your time will be spent listening to customers, answering questions, and organizing merchandise; daily responsibilities may vary by department.
Customer Service Associates may work in one of the following departments, based on hiring needs and skillsets:
Appliances, Cabinets, Flooring, Live Nursery, Inside Garden, Hardware, Tools, Millwork, Building Materials, Plumbing, Electrical, Paint, Home Décor, Tool Rental, or Pro Services.
- Welcome customers, answer questions, and deliver friendly, professional service.
- Assist customers with locating and handling merchandise.
- Down stock merchandise by replenishing empty shelf areas.
- Process orders and deliveries accurately.
- Cross‑train in other areas of the store.
- Prepare merchandise based on customer needs (e.g., tint and mix paint, cut and thread pipe, cut and bundle wood, cut drywall, cut blinds).
- Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- At least 6 months of experience using a computer for basic data entry or information retrieval.
- At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology such as smartphones and tablets.
- Reading, writing, and basic arithmetic skills.
- Ability to perform duties requiring prolonged standing, sitting, or other activities.
- Minimum lifting capability of 25 lbs unassisted or 25 lbs with accommodation.
- Retail and/or customer service experience.
- Bi‑lingual capabilities.
- Certification related to department trade (hardware, plumbing, electrical, etc.).
This role does not require regular travel; occasional travel may be needed for meetings, training, or to support neighboring stores.
Working ConditionsEnvironmental factors vary by location; you may work in both indoor and outdoor conditions, including extreme heat or cold, dampness, humidity, wind, or draft. Noise levels may vary. Exposure to moving or shaking objects and equipment is possible. Lifting may involve up to 75 pounds per single lift; team lifts are used when necessary.
