Location:
Portland, Oregon.
Lead our Meat/Seafood department by delivering exceptional customer service, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and supervising all staff functions.
Responsibilities- Direct and supervise all Meat/Seafood department activities, ensuring high quality and safety standards.
- Support day‑to‑day operations, including customer service, inventory management, and product presentation.
- Encourage associates to embrace a Customer First strategy and deliver excellent service.
- Develop, implement, and monitor a department business plan to achieve sales and performance goals.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, company guidelines, and safety procedures.
- Cut seafood to customer requests using proper cutting equipment and maintain knife safety.
- Offer product samples, inform customers of specials, and promote new items.
- Prepare foods following temperature logs and cooking instructions.
- Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management.
- Maintain an awareness of inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies and managing inventory processes.
- Schedule daily, weekly, and monthly price changes by updating shelf tags and promotional signs.
- Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and records logged.
- Familiarity with country of origin labeling and regulations.
- Develop performance goals for the department and empower associates to meet or exceed targets.
- Provide training and development for associates on job performance, inventory, and Computer Assisted Ordering.
- Maintain and enforce safety programs, identify unsafe conditions, and report incidents to management.
- Confirm that all safety risks, incidents, or illegal activities, such as robbery, theft, or fraud, are reported promptly.
- Support and assist in customer and employee situations, including interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Effective communication skills.
- Basic math proficiency (counting, addition, subtraction).
- Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally.
- Current food handlers permit required once employed.
- Adequate knife handling skills and speed.
- High school education or equivalent preferred.
- Prior management experience preferred.
- Knowledge of cutting, traying, wrapping, and labeling.
- Seafood experience required.
- Retail experience advantageous.
- Proficiency in a second language (speaking, reading, and/or writing) is a plus.
- Ability to establish trust and respect among associates.
- Capability to collaborate with associates to achieve company/store goals.
- Strong scheduling skills to manage customer volume during operating hours.
- Conflict management skills, nonconfrontational and cooperative.
- Honesty, integrity, and ethical conduct regarding customer and business information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary.
- Competence to perform essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
