Job Description
The Specialty Sales force is primarily responsible for driving demand for the product assigned by reinforcing the product brand and Takeda value. The specialist presents Takeda’s products and optimizes business opportunities in targeted physician offices, key clinics, and hospital accounts that specialize in the area of specified. The Specialty Business Manager – IBD will be required to demonstrate excellence in developing and applying business processes that lead to achievement of sales goals and objectives.
Accountabilities- Support account onboarding, including education and procedures.
- Engage in clinical selling activities, delivering the clinical value proposition, and advancing customers across a brand belief continuum.
- Provide initial clinical educational support and in‑service for medical staff (infusion procedures, etc.).
- Coordinate and support clinical education opportunities and programs for HCPs, such as peer‑to‑peer discussions.
- Conduct account management activities within smaller, less complex GI practices, clinics, and outlets.
- Achieve sales goals and objectives by delivering specialty product volume and other key metrics within the assigned territory.
- Establish professional relationships with health‑care providers and key staff to support the use of the company's products.
- Develop and deliver a targeted sales message based on accurate clinical information and approved marketing materials.
- Execute marketing strategies at the local level and collaborate with company team members to enhance business results.
- Present complex clinical and business information to gastroenterologists and other decision–makers.
- Develop and implement medical education opportunities and sponsor programs to expand professional knowledge.
- Strategically manage allocated resources, including financial budgets and medical affairs support.
None – no direct, indirect, or supervisory staff.
Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills Required- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS)
- 3+ years of successful selling experience in pharmaceutical, biotech or medical device; or 2+ years at Takeda (preferred 5 years)
- Business and strategic planning skills, adaptability to changing market conditions
- Strong collaboration within teams
- Understanding of managed care landscape
- Strong verbal, influencing, presentation and written communication skills
- Residence within or close proximity to the assigned geography
- Experience with injectable/infused IBD products
- Experience communicating complex reimbursement issues
- Biological product launch experience
- Experience calling on gastroenterologists
- Experience discussing therapeutic strategies to inform and influence decision‑makers
- Experience executing local marketing strategies
- Minimum of 5 years of direct selling experience to healthcare professionals in the pharmaceutical, biotech, device, or healthcare industry
- Successful completion of mandatory product training, including written and oral examinations.
- During training, the employee will be classified as non‑exempt and eligible for overtime but not for sales incentives.
- Upon successful completion, the employee will transition to exempt status and be eligible for incentive programs.
- Valid driver’s license
Identify any unusual physical demands required in the performance of the job.
Travel Requirements- Ability to drive and/or fly to meetings and client sites
- Some overnight travel required – 25‑50%

U.S. Hourly Wage Range: $63.51 – $87.31
The estimated hourly wage range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the applicant, years of experience, level of education, certifications or licenses, and location.
U.S. employees may be eligible for short‑term incentives, medical, dental, vision, 401(k), disability, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteer time, holidays, and well‑being benefits. They may also receive up to 80 hours of sick time and new hires accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
