Job Summary

The Truck Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various types of trucks and heavy-duty vehicles. This role ensures the vehicles are in optimal operating condition, contributing to the safety and efficiency of the company's fleet operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine inspections of all on and off-road equipment to identify potential issues.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to assess mechanical and electronic systems.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and other preventive measures.
  • Repair or replace malfunctioning components, including engines, transmissions, brake systems, and other parts.
  • Address electrical and electronic issues, including wiring, lights, and instrument panels.
  • Maintain detailed records of services performed, parts used, and time spent on each task.
  • Update maintenance logs and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure all repairs and maintenance comply with industry standards and regulatory guidelines.
  • Communicate with drivers and operators to understand vehicle issues and provide updates on repair status.
  • Offer advice and recommendations on vehicle care and preventive maintenance.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies.
  • Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance technical skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in automotive or diesel technology preferred.
  • Proven experience as a truck mechanic or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of trucks.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver's license; CDL is a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Comfortable working in various conditions, including outdoors and in tight spaces.
  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Work Environment
  • The work environment includes exposure to loud noises, hazardous materials, and variable weather conditions.
  • The role may require overtime and weekend work depending on the workload and operational needs.
