The Truck Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various types of trucks and heavy-duty vehicles. This role ensures the vehicles are in optimal operating condition, contributing to the safety and efficiency of the company's fleet operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct routine inspections of all on and off-road equipment to identify potential issues.
Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to assess mechanical and electronic systems.
Perform scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and other preventive measures.
Repair or replace malfunctioning components, including engines, transmissions, brake systems, and other parts.
Address electrical and electronic issues, including wiring, lights, and instrument panels.
Maintain detailed records of services performed, parts used, and time spent on each task.
Update maintenance logs and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Ensure all repairs and maintenance comply with industry standards and regulatory guidelines.
Communicate with drivers and operators to understand vehicle issues and provide updates on repair status.
Offer advice and recommendations on vehicle care and preventive maintenance.
Stay updated with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies.
Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance technical skills.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in automotive or diesel technology preferred.
Proven experience as a truck mechanic or in a similar role.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of trucks.
Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and tools.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Valid driver's license; CDL is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.
Comfortable working in various conditions, including outdoors and in tight spaces.
Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Work Environment:
The work environment includes exposure to loud noises, hazardous materials, and variable weather conditions.
The role may require overtime and weekend work depending on the workload and operational needs.
