Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Installation Technician, Electrician/ Electrician Installation
Summary:
This opportunity resides with the Global Security (GS) group and involves supporting Platform Modernization for U.S. Navy ships. The role requires mechanical, welding, electrical, and shipboard experience, extensive travel (51–75% of the time), and high physical demands.
- Trades Assistant – Salary $20.76–21/hour
- Tradesperson 1 – Salary $21–22/hour
- Tradesperson 2 – Salary $25–27/hour
- Tradesperson 3 – Salary $28–32/hour
- Tradesperson 4 – Salary $31–38/hour
- Tech Subject Matter Expert – Salary $35–44/hour
Performs installation, operation, maintenance, repair, and modification of equipment and systems across various platforms and technical environments. Supports system upgrades, removals, troubleshooting, and modernization efforts using appropriate technical tools and methods. Conducts technical support on equipment, integrated systems, and associated software at customer or field locations. Evaluates system performance, diagnoses malfunctions, and resolves issues efficiently. Coordinates work in alignment with engineering changes and maintains effective communication with customers.
May provide onsite training to support personnel. Applies knowledge of production methods, processes, and procedures while assisting with technical documentation such as work packages, procedures, test documents, and reports. Performs tasks outside the primary specialty when needed to complete assignments.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance.
- Must be able to obtain base and ship access.
- Must be able to work from blueprints, engineering sketches, charts or work orders as well as written and verbal instruction as needed.
- High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 0–8 years of related experience.
- Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
- Candidate with experience/knowledge in various welding processes in all positions. Welder candidates must demonstrate welding ability and pass qualification testing within the first three weeks.
- Current or previous electrical/mechanical experience.
- Candidate with shipboard experience highly desired.
- Candidates who are currently enrolled or have graduated from and/or completed a vocational school or skilled trades certificate program are preferred.
Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes, no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
