Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks on various mechanical equipment throughout spaces, classrooms, and offices;
  • Replace filters and belts on air handling equipment located on the rooftops and in mechanical rooms;
  • Change and adjust fan motor belts, pulleys, and springs;
  • Lubricate bearings and motors as necessary;
  • Regularly attend HVAC training courses to expand knowledge of the various building systems;
  • Maintain clean work area;
  • Maintains records of equipment performance and preventive maintenance and prepares routine reports;
  • Operate and maintain district vehicles and equipment in a safe and responsible manner;
  • Protect the interest of the district regarding pilferage, loss, theft, or abuse of district supplies and equipment;
  • Collaborates with energy management staff in controlling and operating school heating and cooling equipment. Coordinate with supervisor on plans, priorities, and assignments;
  • Prepare requests for purchases as required;
  • Maintain physical condition and health status necessary to perform duties and responsibilities;
  • Know and observe district policies and safety practices;
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
  • One or more years of experience, or a combination of school and work experience totaling three years in one or more of the following mechanical trades: HVAC, refrigeration, commercial plumbing, pipe fitter, boiler repair, or energy management systems and controls;
  • Ability to use hand and power tools;
  • Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers;
  • Ability to perform sustained physical labor indoors and out;
  • Ability to comfortably work at heights and on ladders;
  • Working in our facilities often includes maneuvering around minor obstacles, climbing ladders and inclines, and lifting 50 pounds on a regular basis;
  • Must have the ability to twist, stoop/bend, squat, kneel, crawl, reach, carry, push, stoop, crouch, and hear. Far and near visual acuity, depth perception required;
  • Valid Washington State driver's license or ability to obtain within thirty days, and a good driving record.
