A.C. Moate Industries, Inc. was ranked #1 in the nation by Pavement Maintenance & Reconstruction Magazine.

We provide commercial pavement, property maintenance, and proprietary winter services for property managers, facility managers, commercial owners, HOAs, and general contractors.

We are looking for a Head Fleet Mechanic who can take ownership of the shop, keep our fleet ready for work, and prevent equipment failures from disrupting production.

If you spot problems before they sideline a crew, keep reading.

If you take pride in strong maintenance standards, accurate repairs, and equipment that stays fixed after it leaves the shop, you may be the right fit.

If you want to coast, guess at repairs, or pass problems down the road, this is not the position for you.

The Mission

Keep the company's trucks, trailers, and operating equipment safe, reliable, and available to support daily field production with minimal downtime.

What You Will Own
  • Fleet uptime across trucks, trailers, and field equipment
  • Shop workflow, repair priorities, and daily maintenance execution
  • Preventive maintenance completed correctly and on schedule
  • Fast and accurate diagnosis of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel-related problems
  • Repair quality that holds up under real field conditions
  • Safety inspections and road-readiness of fleet assets
  • Early identification of wear, damage, and mechanical risks
  • Clear communication regarding equipment status, repair timelines, and parts needs
  • Accountability for reducing repeat repairs and avoidable downtime
  • Maintaining an organized, professional, and efficient shop
  • Supporting and setting standards for other mechanics and outside repair vendors
  • This is not a position where you simply wait for work orders. We need someone who actively inspects the fleet, identifies risks, prioritizes repairs, and keeps production informed.
Our Fleet

Our operation includes light-duty and heavy-duty trucks, trailers, diesel equipment, paving equipment, skid steers, rollers, and other commercial construction equipment.

Experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical diagnostics, trailers, DOT inspections, and construction equipment is highly valuable.

You do not need to be an asphalt expert on day one. We provide an intensive two-week onboarding program that includes industry-specific training and instruction on our systems and software.

What We Are Looking For
  • Strong experience maintaining and repairing commercial fleet vehicles or heavy equipment
  • Proven diagnostic ability
  • Experience with diesel, hydraulic, electrical, brake, suspension, and drivetrain systems
  • Ability to prioritize repairs based on safety and production needs
  • Strong preventive-maintenance habits
  • Leadership experience or the ability to set clear shop standards
  • Clear communication and accurate documentation
  • A valid driver's license and dependable work history
  • CDL and inspection certifications are preferred but not required
Bring Proof

When you apply, tell us:

  • What types of trucks and equipment you have maintained
  • The size and variety of the fleet you supported
  • Whether you led other mechanics or managed shop workflow
  • How you reduced downtime or improved preventive-maintenance completion
  • About difficult problems you personally diagnosed and repaired
  • How quickly you returned equipment to service
  • What you did to prevent repeat failures
  • Specific numbers and real examples matter more than adjectives.
Compensation and Benefits

$35.00-$60.00+ per hour, depending on experience and demonstrated ability

Guaranteed minimum of 40 hours per week

Elite Bonus and Tenure Bonus opportunities

Medical insurance through Cigna, with the company covering 50% of the employee premium

Dental and vision insurance through Principal

401(k) with company match

Paid time off and holidays

Training and advancement opportunities
