Role Overview :The Housing Specialist will collaborate with participants, staff, and community providers to provide housing resources, assist with housing applications and lease paperwork and routine reporting. Work with Housing Services staff and Housing Operations staff, property owners/managers, Valley Cities Clinic staff and participants to secure rental units and maintain mutually beneficial relationships for all parties involved. In scattered site projects serve as primary contact and liaison for landlord and other housing entities, keeping supervisor and project team fully informed of any issues of concern.
Respond promptly to landlord concerns and report back in timely manner. Coordinate activities with team members, participants, and community service providers. Keep accurate and complete financial and program rental records.
- Work with participants and staff to identify housing resources and potential housing options for program participants.
- Collect, record, and track all resident housing payments (i.e. rents, deposits, key fees, etc.).
- In collaboration with project services staff contribute and maintain a current listing of available housing including a variety of housing options, types, sizes, and suitability for special populations.
- Work with participants to identify barriers to housing and develop reasonable strategies for addressing the barriers and securing housing. Communicate these strategies with project team to collaborate on integrating in housing stability plan.
- Assist participants in completing housing applications as needed.
- Maintain up‑to‑date resource lists of affordable housing in King County.
- Collaborate with teammates regarding the clinical and housing needs of program participants.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of 3‑4 years of experience
- Prior experience working with homeless households.
- Knowledge of landlord tenant law, housing authority regulations, the provisions of a standard lease and related information.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of professionals and a diverse client population.
- Pass required background checks.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work evenings
- Current Driver’s License.
- Current Automotive insurance.
