Job Summary

As a Long-Distance Freight Dispatcher, you will play a crucial role in coordinating and managing the seamless movement of freight over extensive distances, ensuring timely and efficient deliveries. We are looking for a dynamic individual with a strong grasp of transportation logistics, outstanding communication skills, and the ability to excel in a fast-paced working environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and enhance routes for freight transportation, promoting optimal resource use and punctual deliveries.
  • Assign and schedule loads for drivers considering their availability, capacity, and delivery obligations.
  • Maintain consistent communication with drivers, delivering essential information and updates regarding routes and schedules.
  • Proactively address and resolve problems during transit, such as delays or equipment failures, to minimize service disruptions.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and rigorous safety standards in all linehaul operations.
  • Keep precise records of dispatch activities, driver logs, routing specifics, and delivery timelines.
  • Monitor driver and equipment performance, offering constructive feedback and improvement suggestions.
  • Engage with customers to provide shipment updates, handle inquiries, and promote high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Utilize dispatch software and GPS technology to track and manage freight movements efficiently.
  • Collaborate closely with operations, customer service, and warehouse teams to enhance logistics processes.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on freight operations, focusing on performance metrics, delivery timelines, and encountered challenges.
  • Manage transportation costs, actively seeking opportunities for savings and efficiency enhancements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in logistics, transportation, or a related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in dispatching or logistics coordination, particularly in linehaul or long-distance transportation.
  • Strong understanding of transportation logistics and routing principles.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to multitask and thrive in high-pressure scenarios.
  • Proficient in dispatch software, GPS systems, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
