PositionWarehouse Associate
About the RoleThe Warehouse Associate plays a key role in ensuring freight is handled safely, accurately, and efficiently. This position supports daily warehouse operations through loading, unloading, staging, and securing freight while delivering professional service to internal teams and customers. This position is non‑supervisory.
What You’ll Do- Freight Handling & Warehouse Operations:
- Load and unload freight safely from various types of vehicles
- Move freight, materials, and inventory within the warehouse, yard, and staging areas
- Tag, label, and mark freight with appropriate identifying information
- Verify freight against work orders and shipping documentation
- Record quantities and units handled or moved
- Load and properly secure flatbed freight
- Ensure loads comply with water restriction and transportation requirements
- Customer & Team Support:
- Assist customers by phone and in person in a courteous, professional manner
- Communicate clearly with coworkers and supervisors regarding work assignments
- Support other departments and team members as needed
- Safety, Equipment & Facility Care:
- Consistently follow all safety policies and procedures
- Perform basic inspection, cleaning, and minor maintenance of vehicles and equipment
- Maintain a clean, organized warehouse environment
- Use proper lifting techniques and material‑handling equipment at all times
- Administrative & General Duties:
- Accurately complete required paperwork and documentation
- Read work orders or follow verbal instructions to determine assignments and equipment needs
- Perform other duties as assigned to support operations
- Effective English communication skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing)
- Strong attention to detail and situational awareness
- Time management and task prioritization skills
- Sound judgment and decision‑making ability
- Ability to safely operate or learn to operate warehouse and material‑handling equipment
- Spatial awareness and coordination in a fast‑paced environment
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Forklift certification and/or Hazardous Materials certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
- Previous transportation, warehouse, or freight‑handling experience preferred
Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to independently lift up to 70 pounds
- Ability to move loads up to 200 pounds using appropriate equipment
- Ability to perform repetitive physical movements including lifting, bending, reaching, grasping, and standing
- Good manual dexterity, balance, and coordination
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment with exposure to weather elements and vehicle exhaust fumes
The hourly range is posted for this position in Washington. The hourly rate will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
