This position supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations, developing a sales culture, and providing outstanding guest service experiences through professional conduct and passion for gaming. You will help ensure products are easy to see and buy, build sales by sharing product and gaming knowledge with guests, maintain a clean and organized store environment, and grow guest loyalty and repeat business.
This role supervises Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests promptly; respond to questions/concerns quickly, effectively, and courteously; inform guests of promotions; recommend additional items; apply selling behaviors during every transaction; thank guests for shopping at Game Stop; circulate throughout the store to prioritize guests over tasks.
- Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
- Process guest purchases/returns promptly and accurately using the POS system; ensure correct changes, bag merchandise, provide receipts, and maintain top-notch guest service.
- Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; greet callers professionally and escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate.
- Promote Game Stop’s guest benefits, such as the new title reservations program, trade-in program, and Pro Rewards loyalty program.
- Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates in policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines.
- Observe associate performance, provide timely feedback to the Store Manager, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed.
- Provide recognition and feedback to store associates; regularly input written feedback into the HR system in partnership with the Store Manager.
- With the Store Manager, ensure associates complete onboarding, job training, and compliance training prior to opening or closing shifts; ensure knowledge of policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety practices, and ethical responsibilities.
- Schedule store associates following guidelines; manage staffing to ensure optimum guest service and adherence to standards.
- Approve payroll, manage paid time off, and verify time worked.
- Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandise presentation; ensure fixtures and equipment are in good working order.
- Ensure Omni-Channel orders are fulfilled and shipped daily.
- Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; inspect packages as appropriate; report concerns to the Store Manager.
- Support the team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete required administrative duties.
- Perform inventory counts, restock merchandise, and organize products to ensure representation and accessibility.
- Balance and reconcile daily POS totals; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits according to guidelines.
- Verify shipments for discrepancies; conduct merchandise counts and communicate discrepancies to the Store Manager/District Manager.
- Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls promptly; ensure proper labeling and packing lists.
- Maintain guest and associate safety; report injuries per guidelines.
- Maintain store records/files; keep manuals up to date.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Adhere to Game Stop policies and procedures as outlined in the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
- Follow opening and closing procedures.
- Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
- At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
