This position is responsible for the collection and processing of payments from residents and/or responsible parties for residency and Resident Accounts at the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home. Duties include monthly billing, reconciling account balances, processing delinquent accounts within statutory guidelines, posting transactions, balancing cash with daily financial reports, preparing disbursement requests, and replenishing cash. The role also prepares monthly financial reports and quarterly statements, maintains logs/receipts, and processes billing for pharmacy, labs, and ambulance.
Effective communication with residents, families, and Department of Veterans Service staff is essential. Other duties as assigned.
Manage the financial database used to process daily resident payments; post payments accurately; respond to inquiries from residents or responsible parties.
Maintain daily AR balances and finalize monthly financial reports for the Department of Veterans Service; deposits as needed.
Prepare monthly statements within three business days after month start; follow delinquency guidelines; notify Executive Director after two consecutive delinquent notices; prepare aging AR reports.
Work with the Director of Accounting and Finance and DV S staff to ensure documentation is maintained; assist with reimbursement information at time of death or discharge.
Maintain resident accounts, accept deposits, distribute cash, maintain petty cash, post transactions, balance cash with reports, prepare disbursement check requests, replenish cash.
Prepare monthly financial reports and quarterly statements; maintain logs for audits; reconcile monthly statements.
Maintain and process billing for pharmacy, labs, and ambulance; verify charges; research and resolve billing discrepancies; generate statistical reports.
Train Business Office staff in resident accounts and billing; monitor performance during training.
Assist Director of Business Services with projects; serve as backup for other Business Office positions; perform related duties as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Associate degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or related field with at least one year of accounting or bookkeeping experience, OR
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with four years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
PreferredExperience in accounting, bookkeeping, or accounts receivable; strong initiative, organizational abilities, flexibility, and ability to work independently.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- KNOWLEDGE:
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other databases; basic budgeting understanding; accounting strengths. - SKILLS:
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication; detail-oriented with strong organizational, prioritization, analytical, and multi-tasking abilities. - ABILITIES:
Maintain confidentiality; work independently or in a team; high degree of accuracy; reconcile and resolve payment issues; manage multiple priorities and take initiative.
Shift: Days, Monday–Friday
Salary:
Minimum $18.85/hour;
Midpoint $22.23/hour;
Salary commensurate with qualifications within the established range.
