Job Summary

Perform reconciliations of custodial/liability, institutional, and state scholarships; monthly UMC/AUMC reconciliation with check breakdown; monthly Georgia sales tax reporting/remittance; collaborate with Office of Military and Veteran Services for timely communication, award/return effort, VA Debt Letters and offsets; reconcile all VA/Military third‑party accounts; assist USG Employee Tuition Assistance reporting; process uncashed refunds; participate in fiscal year‑end audit schedules and reconciliations; backup Accountant 4 processes;

provide superior customer service to internal and external customers and assist students with account‑related questions.

Responsibilities
  • Reconcile custodial, liability, institutional and state scholarship accounts.
  • Perform UMC/AUMC monthly reconciliation and monthly check breakdown.
  • Process uncashed refunds each month.
  • Collaborate with AU Office of Military and Veteran Services to manage third‑party accounts, track payments/refunds, review account adjustments for accurate application.
  • Track VA Debt Letters and offset postings.
  • Participate in fiscal year‑end state audit requirements and AR/GL quarterly reporting.
  • Perform all administrative duties related to the position including reporting, filing, database updates, and budget preparatory documentation.
  • Assist with TAP, Georgia Sales Tax and federal reconciliation.
  • Backup or collaborate with the Accountant 4 position.
  • Provide superior customer service to internal and external customers, including students, via phone, e‑mail, and in person.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Business Administration degree from an accredited college or university, majoring in accounting.
  • Three years of demonstrated experience in general ledger functions, close‑out processes, auditing, bookkeeping, and/or preparing financial statements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience working with Banner or other relational databases for account management and complex funding operations.
  • Experience reconciling accounts using multiple systems.
  • Documented good customer‑service track record.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong time‑management and decision‑making skills to ensure timely completion of all tasks.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency and experience with Banner or similar relational database systems.
  • In‑depth knowledge of institutional policies, rules, and regulations related to accounts receivable.
  • Excellent verbal communication, listening, and customer‑service skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, Banner, and People Soft, with excellent accounting and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize, plan duties, meet deadlines, and maintain data integrity.
Shift / Salary / Benefits

Shift: Days, Monday–Friday (may require outside normal business hours for exempt positions).

Pay Band: 10

Salary:
Minimum $52,500.00 annually, commensurate with qualifications within the established range.

Benefits:
Health, dental, and life insurance; optional Teachers Retirement System or retirement plan; paid vacation, sick leave, and 13 holidays; eligible for Tuition Assistance Program after six months.

Recruitment Period: 6/11/26 – Until filled.

All selected candidates must pass a background check. Credit check may be required for Positions of Trust or purchase‑card usage. Motor‑vehicle reports required if a vehicle is used. Faculty hires must provide academic transcripts and credential evaluation if trained abroad.
