This position performs administrative duties for the College of Science and Mathematics (CSM) students and faculty at both the Health Sciences and Summerville campuses and supports the college as a whole under the direction of the Administrative Assistant to the Dean. The role requires independence, professionalism, informed decision‑making, and regular communication with the Administrative Assistant to the Dean. The incumbent must be proactive, positive, and work cooperatively as part of a team, representing the college.
ResponsibilitiesProvide administrative support to the Administrative Assistant to the Dean at both campuses; manage delegated projects; prepare financial documentation (requisitions, IDRs, check requests) and maintain a spending spreadsheet; represent the college on AU committees; serve as backup in promotion/tenure processes; assist with events; manage printer/copier repairs and supply orders; assist students, faculty, and visitors as needed.
Provide support to the college’s Assistant and Associate Deans, including communications, meeting coordination, report management, spreadsheet upkeep, facilities requests, work orders, and attendance at meetings.
Assume the responsibilities of the Administrative Assistant to the Dean during absences, including scheduling meetings for the Dean, faculty, and staff; attending internal college standing meetings; following up on action items; meeting with HR on CSM hiring activity; processing travel and leave requests; maintaining deadlines; collaborating with AU partners (faculty affairs, registrar’s office, facilities, etc.); managing current projects; triaging inquiries; and executing planned college events.
Associate degree from an accredited college or university in a related field with a minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in administrative support; or a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent with six years of progressively responsible experience in administrative support.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience working independently and making informed decisions.
- Demonstrated excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Desirability of a Bachelor’s Degree.
- Experience in an academic environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently.
Shift: Days;
Monday - Friday
Salary Minimum: $15.77 per hour
Pay Band: B2 – Salary to be commensurate with qualifications within the established range.

Conditions of EmploymentAll selected candidates must successfully pass a Background Check review prior to starting. Faculty hires will be required to provide proof of completed academic degrees and, for foreign‑trained candidates, an educational/credential evaluation.
