Job Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Housing and Residence Life, the Housing Operations Coordinator facilitates the planning and implementation of operational processes for over 1,600 bed spaces, contributes to occupancy and revenue goals, and supervises summer housing processes, including contract development, billing, and room assignments. The coordinator implements systems that are student‑centered, support community formation, foster student retention, and promote student success.

Responsibilities

Housing Operations & Occupancy Management:

  • Work closely with the Assignments Coordinator to assign and reassign students based on housing process, needs, requests, and other factors.
  • Manage transitional housing processes including early arrivals, summer transition, and late stays.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to determine housing needs for incoming first‑year, transfer, and graduate/professional students.
  • Serve as primary contact for housing accommodations and for accommodation requests with the Office of Testing and Disability Services.
  • Act as primary contact for Lock Shop and Environmental Health & Safety requests and oversee key‑and‑lock inventory for all university properties.
  • Provide housing information to the Jag Card office and deliver high‑level customer service to constituents.
  • Respond to housing concerns from students and families and produce accurate occupancy and related reports on a weekly or as‑needed basis.
  • Process all housing cancellations and withdrawals and work with the Business Operations Specialist on housing credits and refunds.
  • Manage all housing and room charges within Star Rez and liaison with groups contracting for summer occupancy.
  • Manage Health & Safety Inspection Process, including training Residence Life Coordinators and scheduling inspections with Environmental Health Services.

Professional Development:

  • Collaborate with Housing and Residence Life team members to develop and reinforce professional development plans and provide clear performance feedback.
  • Participate in staff training and development, and assist in recruitment, selection, onboarding, and training processes.

Departmental Engagement:

  • Contribute to and participate in strategic planning, goal setting, data/assessment efforts, and staffing priorities.
  • Communicate trends, concerns, and achievements with supervisor and leadership team.
  • Assist with special projects and support the department and university efforts.

Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • General knowledge and skills in occupancy management and foundational knowledge of student affairs administration.
  • Two years of experience in related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Star Rez database management and StarQL.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge: Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases; knowledge of student housing systems and processes.

Skills: Detail‑oriented with excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Abilities: Ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to utilize Star Rez and Banner; ability to communicate with students, parents, campus partners, facilities, and staff.

Shift / Salary / Benefits
  • Shift: Days, Monday to Friday.
  • Pay Band: B6.
  • Salary: $43,888 – $49,000 annually (commensurate with qualifications).
  • Benefits:

    Teachers Retirement System or Optional Retirement Plan; vacation, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays; potential tuition assistance after 6 months.
Conditions of Employment
  • Successful completion of a background check; credit check if required for Positions of Trust or Purchase Card usage.
  • Motor‑vehicle reports required for positions that involve driving university vehicles.
  • Faculty hires: proof of completed academic degree(s) and transcripts; credential evaluation if trained abroad.
