About

The Role

Supports a base group of client accounts by managing a team and/or clients, expediting their shipments from start to finish through development of familiarity with their import programs and products; through understanding of Customs regulations and international transportation; by coordinating file processing with team members and other company work groups. Directs and coordinates superior client service delivery and production activities of a defined team within our Customs Brokerage operation.

Executes these activities in support of the established Maersk Customs Services policies, goals, and objectives and in full compliance with CBP regulations. Serves as a subject‑matter expert for existing and new customers on CHB matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete responsibility for U.S. import customs brokerage process and superior customer service delivery for a defined team within our CHB operation. Sets organizational plans for the team along with owning the overall client experience. Development of complete familiarity with client import programs and set organizational plans for the department on the handling of the specific clients, including product classifications, special customs details, government agency compliance requirements, accurate accounting practices such as client invoicing and job accruals, specialized client reports, A/R status and collection efforts, carrier & delivery requirements, and client‑specific needs.
  • Measure and monitor results of the overall operation against KPIs established regularly and systematically, report these results to management, and hold direct subordinates accountable.
  • Ensure that KPIs are met for assigned accounts through management of the team and support team with entry processing as required.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws, including driving employee engagement, training, performance appraisal, complaint resolution, and corrective action.
  • Comply with Customs Brokers’ responsibilities under CFR §19, Section 111, Subpart C, and utilize lean management tools to evaluate the team structure and plan for continual improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and adherence to company procedures and policies.
  • Perform other position‑related duties as specified by management.
What We Are Looking For

Operational leadership & service delivery focus: lead day‑to‑day customs operations with a strong focus on service quality, team performance, and consistent delivery against KPIs.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5–7 years of experience in the industry.
  • 2–3 years of previous management experience.
Technical Skills and Competencies Required
  • A strong execution‑mindset manager with financial technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus including an understanding of systems.
  • Strong understanding of the transportation industry.
  • Excellent communication skills to relate to people at all levels of an organization.
  • Well organized, self‑directed, team player, with excellent conflict resolution and problem‑solving skills.
  • Resourceful, creative, flexible, and able to manage resources effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to train, coach, evaluate, and mentor.
  • Strong thought leadership and influencing skills, capable of engaging multiple business units to develop solutions.
  • Strong and current knowledge of technology platforms and MS Office products, with the ability to quickly adapt to new software.
