S&ME is searching for motivated, full‑time Construction Materials Engineering Technician candidates at all experience levels to join our Construction Services group.
Your Day-to-Day- Field & Lab Testing:
Performing field and laboratory testing on construction materials like concrete, asphalt, soil, and aggregates. - Sample Collection & Prep:
Collecting and preparing samples for analysis. - Data Interpretation & Reporting:
Interpreting test results and preparing detailed reports. - Team Collaboration & Compliance:
Working closely with engineers, contractors, and project managers to ensure all work meets specifications and safety guidelines.
Experience shifting work hours based on project demands and weather, including early mornings, some Saturdays, and overtime (paid at time and a half). Occasional travel to support other offices is covered with per diem and lodging.
What You Bring- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in a related field preferred for advanced levels.
- Associate Technician/Technician I: 0-2 years relevant experience.
- Technician II: 2+ years of relevant experience or an associate degree.
- Technician III: 3+ years of relevant experience or an associate degree.
- Technician IV: 5+ years of relevant experience; prior leadership or mentoring experience is a plus.
- Industry certifications such as American Concrete Institute (ACI) Field Testing Grade I;
Strength Testing Technician;
Laboratory Technician, and/or International Code Council (ICC) Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils). - Strong English communication skills (verbal and written).
- Basic math proficiency, including an understanding of measurements and units of weight.
- Understanding of a fluctuating schedule and interest in occasional travel.
Compensation and Technician Level will be based on experience and industry certifications.
Working Conditions and Physical DemandsWillingness and ability to perform the physical demands of this position with Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment, such as:
