Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

Southeast Pipe Survey, Inc. is a leading contractor specializing in sanitary sewer inspection, cleaning, trenchless rehabilitation, cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) lining, pipe bursting, open-cut construction, manhole rehabilitation, and related underground utility services throughout the southeastern United States.

We are seeking an experienced Certified Safety Professional (CSP) who is passionate about protecting people while helping field operations succeed. This position requires an individual who can effectively balance regulatory compliance with practical construction operations. The successful candidate will develop, implement, and continuously improve our safety culture while supporting approximately 60 employees working in demanding underground utility environments.

This position requires frequent travel to project sites and close collaboration with operations management, field supervisors, project managers, and executive leadership.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead and continuously improve the company's Safety Management System.
  • Conduct routine and unannounced field safety inspections throughout active job sites.
  • Perform job hazard analyses (JHAs), risk assessments, and pre-task planning reviews.
  • Develop and conduct employee safety orientation and ongoing training programs.
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • OSHA Construction Standards (29 CFR 1926)
    • OSHA General Industry Standards (29 CFR 1910)
    • Confined Space Entry
    • Excavation & Trenching
    • Lockout/Tagout
    • Respiratory Protection
    • Fall Protection
    • Hazard Communication
    • DOT/FMCSA regulations
    • State and local safety requirements
  • Assist project teams with Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), Site Specific Safety Plans (SSSPs), and client-required safety documentation.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation.
  • Manage near-miss reporting and trend analysis.
  • Maintain OSHA 300 Logs and all required regulatory documentation.
  • Coordinate workers' compensation reporting and return-to-work initiatives.
  • Conduct equipment safety inspections and auditing programs.
  • Monitor subcontractor safety performance.
  • Participate in project kickoff meetings and planning sessions.
  • Track leading and lagging safety indicators.
  • Develop monthly executive safety reports and recommendations.
  • Assist in emergency response planning.
  • Conduct safety audits for federally funded, municipal, and private utility projects.
  • Support company insurance audits and loss-control initiatives.

Required Qualifications
  • Current Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (equivalent experience considered)
  • Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience
  • Minimum 3 years supporting heavy civil, utility, pipeline, or underground construction
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations
  • Strong understanding of underground utility construction hazards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and leadership abilities
  • Ability to build trust with field personnel while maintaining accountability
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to travel to job sites throughout Georgia and surrounding states
Preferred Qualifications
  • CHST certification
  • OSHA 500 Trainer
  • OSHA 510
  • OSHA 30 Construction
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor
  • Certified Confined Space Rescue training
  • Incident Command System (ICS) training
  • DOT compliance experience
