Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Construction Safety Manager to develop, implement, and oversee safety programs across multiple active construction sites.
This role is responsible for ensuring that employees, subcontractors, and visitors comply with company policies, OSHA construction standards, and all applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations. The Construction Safety Manager will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, subcontractors, and field personnel to identify hazards, prevent incidents, strengthen the company’s safety culture, and maintain accurate safety documentation.
The ideal candidate has hands‑on construction safety experience, strong knowledge of OSHA requirements, and the ability to influence field teams and enforce safety standards across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities Safety Program Management- Develop, implement, and continuously improve company-wide construction safety policies, procedures, standards, and programs.
- Ensure consistent implementation of safety requirements across all active construction sites.
- Establish clear safety expectations for employees, subcontractors, visitors, and project teams.
- Monitor changes in OSHA regulations, industry standards, and construction safety best practices.
- Develop site-specific safety plans based on project scope, working conditions, and identified risks.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits at active construction sites.
- Identify unsafe conditions, behaviors, and potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are completed promptly.
- Exercise stop-work authority when conditions present an immediate safety risk.
- Monitor compliance with requirements related to PPE, fall protection, scaffolding, ladders, excavation, electrical safety, equipment operation, and other high-risk activities.
- Ensure construction sites are maintained in a manner that minimizes risks to employees, subcontractors, visitors, equipment, and property.
- Verify that subcontractors comply with company safety policies and applicable regulations.
- Escalate serious or repeated safety violations to project leadership and senior management.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA construction standards and applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Maintain OSHA logs, inspection records, reports, and supporting documentation.
- Prepare for and support OSHA and other regulatory inspections.
- Coordinate communication with OSHA and other governmental agencies when necessary.
- Identify compliance gaps and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
- Conduct safety orientations for new employees and subcontractors.
- Lead and document daily, weekly, and project‑specific safety meetings and toolbox talks.
- Identify training needs and coordinate appropriate safety training for field employees, supervisors, and project management.
- Ensure personnel understand relevant hazards, safety requirements, and preventive measures before beginning work.
- Promote employee participation in safety programs and encourage the reporting of hazards and near misses.
- Communicate lessons learned to relevant employees, supervisors, and project teams.
- Partner with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, and field personnel to identify risks before work begins.
- Develop and review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and site‑specific safety plans.
- Ensure appropriate safety controls are incorporated into project planning and execution.
- Participate in planning for high-risk construction activities.
- Review changes in project scope or site conditions and adjust safety controls as needed.
- Develop and maintain emergency preparedness and response procedures for construction sites.
- Ensure project teams understand emergency response responsibilities.
