Overview

Multimedia Journalist, Thomas County, WTXL – Join the team that tells the stories that matter most to families in South Georgia. As a one‑person band, you will research, shoot, write, and edit content that resonates with diverse audiences across Thomas County.

• Receive assignments or evaluate news leads and tips to develop story ideas.
• Gather and verify factual information through interview, observation, and research.
• Organize material, determine slant or emphasis, and write stories according to prescribed editorial style and format standards.
• Shoot video and still photos to illustrate stories.
• Edit or assist in editing videos for all multimedia platforms.
• Appear on television for taped interviews or narration.
• Give live reports from the site of events or mobile broadcast unit.
• Work cooperatively with the assigned photographer.
• Assist the news producer in preparing the newscast.
• Assist online staff in preparing multimedia stories.

• BS/BA in a related discipline or equivalent experience (preferred).
• Generally, 3+ years of experience in a related field (preferred).
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and proof of insurance meeting company required limits.

• Computer literacy required, including newsroom computer systems.
• Videography and non‑linear editing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of broadcast‑quality camera equipment.
• Experience editing video on Final Cut Pro or similar systems.
• Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills.
• Proficiency posting content to various websites.
• Self‑motivated and able to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
