Position: Administrative Support Assistant (CYS) (Developmental) NF-02/03.

Responsibilities

  • Receive children, youth, parents, and other visitors in a courteous and professional manner and respond to telephone calls, directing callers to appropriate staff.
  • Ensure parents, children, and visitors sign in at the reception area before gaining entry to the facility and monitor child departures to confirm only authorized individuals remove them.
  • Register and terminate children and youth in the Child and Youth Management System (CYMS) and/or waiting‑list database, recording all transactions for reports and tracking.
  • Provide day‑to‑day administrative support, including mail preparation, copying, distribution, correspondence, memoranda, briefings, Daily Activity Reports, and other operational requirements.
  • Articulate policies related to patron fees, waiting lists, enrollments, terminations, and program events, and coordinate vacancies and reservations for the hourly care program as required.
Conditions of Employment
  • Direct Deposit and a copy of the Social Security Card are required.
  • Meet all qualification, eligibility, and background requirements for the position.
  • Complete a one‑year probationary period, if mandated.
  • Pass an employment verification (E‑Verify) check.
  • Satisfy pre‑employment background checks per AR 215‑3, 2‑15.m., and conduct a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Maintain a current health assessment documenting good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and immunizations in accordance with Army and DoD policy, including annual influenza vaccinations.
  • Successfully complete all annual training requirements within the prescribed timeframe and demonstrate job competency on the job.
  • Work irregular hours, evenings, and/or weekends as required.
  • Travel to on‑ and off‑post locations is required.
Qualifications
  • Experience in a professional office environment with administrative and clerical procedures, customer‑service concepts, and communication techniques.
  • Proficiency in office automation tools for document preparation, file management, and record maintenance.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and entering information into automated databases.
  • Demonstrated customer‑service and business‑communication skills and correct grammar and composition techniques.
  • At least one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (NF‑02).
  • Highly preferred: experience utilizing automated systems for childcare operations.
Benefits

Pay Range: $17.82 – $25.61 per hour, awarded based on number of hours worked.

Position is part of a pay‑banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized.

Non‑foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials are not paid.

Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized unless in the Government's interest.

Temporary limited commissary privileges are granted to employees, excluding tobacco or alcohol products; this approval expires 31 December 2026.
