The Department of Orthodontics in the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor to direct the Orthodontic Residency Program as Program Director and oversee a curriculum designed to meet CODA standards and graduate clinically competent orthodontists. Additional responsibilities include providing orthodontic care within the DCG Faculty Practice, supporting the department's research efforts, and teaching and mentoring orthodontic residents and pre-doctoral dental students.
This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.
Advanced knowledge of orthodontics sufficient to foster critical thinking and clinical decision‑making skills in residents and students. Strong familiarity with both classic and contemporary orthodontic literature. Working knowledge of research methodology and its practical application.

Responsibilities Clinical/Patient Care - 20%Provide patient care according to DCG Faculty Practice Guidelines. Maintain compliance with quality control standards according to DCG and AU policies. If necessary, provide patient care with or without learners present.
Teaching - 65%Direct the residency program in the DCG Department of Orthodontics. Ensure compliance with CODA guidelines that will lead to accreditation without recommendations. Contribute to curriculum innovation and maintenance that ensures a comprehensive and contemporary curriculum for orthodontic residents. Collaborate and support other academic and residency training programs. Support didactic and clinical teaching for predoctoral students in the classroom, laboratory, and clinic.
Use an evidence‑based approach in all teaching endeavors.
Collaborate with faculty and serve as a mentor to students/residents in research and scholarly activities that lead to presentations and publications in peer‑reviewed journals. Promote, lead and participate in scholarly agenda with residents in the Department of Orthodontics that contributes to the mission of the Department and DCG.
Service - 5%Participate in efforts that promote the service goals of the Dental College of Georgia, Augusta University and the Department of Orthodontics. This may include but is not limited to participation in continuing education, service and leadership on committees, research and service in professional organizations, faculty training and professional development, and serving as reviewer and editor for journals and publications.
Required QualificationsDDS, DMD degree or foreign equivalent.
Completion of an orthodontic certificate or MS from a CODA‑accredited orthodontic training program.
Board Certification from the American Board of Orthodontics.
Must have a minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience in an academic orthodontic departmental setting.
Must be eligible for a Georgia Board of Dentistry License or a Georgia Faculty Teaching License.
