About the Role

This position is responsible for assisting students, faculty, and residents with supplies and instruments for all patient care activity and pre‑clinical activity. The role includes electronic inventory control of supplies, equipment, and dental instruments; maintaining equipment and minor repairs; collecting dirty instruments; managing storage rooms; and ensuring the integrity of the supply inventory system.

Responsibilities
  • Issue instruments and supplemental supplies for all clinical activities.
  • Ensure proper scanning of instruments to students, residents, and faculty.
  • Transport carts to clinic.
  • Maintain accurate records of items checked out from dispensary and/or purchased by students.
  • Ensure timely return of items checked out by students and notify students if instruments are not returned.
  • Pick up unused instruments from mailboxes and clinic clean rooms daily.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies for labs and clinics, checking that equipment is working properly.
  • Inventory clinic supply rooms and order supplies through Central Supply as needed.
  • Deliver and stock clinic supply rooms, maintaining accurate records of usage.
  • Maintain new electronic inventory control of supplies, equipment and dental instruments.
  • Sustain inventory level of instruments and supplies stored in dispensary.
  • Unpack, store, label, and distribute items as needed.
  • Organize and maintain all rooms associated with dispensary and supply rooms, accurate inventory counts, and enter numbers into the electronic inventory system.
  • Ensure all broken items are sent to ICR and recorded in the computer system.
  • Conduct scheduled cleaning of walls, floors, counters and equipment to ensure proper cleanliness of area.
  • Prepare, distribute, and collect supplemental instruments used for boards.
  • Assist all participants on board with patient care supplies and equipment needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management, which may include dental assisting in clinic areas.
Required Qualifications

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with two years of customer service experience and a basic understanding of inventory control.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduation from a Dental Assisting Program with two years of experience in dental assisting.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of infectious disease transmission principles, infection prevention and control, and dental instruments, supplies, equipment, and procedures.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to prioritize daily tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with dental assistants, students, staff, and faculty to ensure clinic and pre‑clinical supply needs are met.
Shift, Salary, & Benefits

Shift

Hours:

7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Pay Band: B3 – Minimum $16.54/hour, Midpoint $19.09/hour. Salary commensurate with qualifications within the range. Recruitment Period:
Until Filled.
Benefits for full‑time, benefits‑eligible employees include health, dental, and life insurance;
Teacher's Retirement System or Optional Retirement Plan; earned vacation time; sick leave; and 13 paid holidays. Tuition Assistance Program available for eligible employees with more than 6 months of service.

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidates must pass a background check. Depending on duties, a credit check, vehicle report, or proof of academic credentials may also be required.
