The Dental College of Georgia (DCG), Department of Pediatric Dentistry at Augusta University seeks a Pediatric Dentist or Orthodontic faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor. Additional responsibilities include clinical and didactic support of the Advanced Education in Pediatric Dentistry Program. This position is not on a tenure track.

Participate in departmental teaching responsibilities, primarily in Pediatric Dentistry, with potential involvement in other departmental teaching areas. Activities include lectures, seminars, laboratories, clinical supervision, and related predoctoral and postdoctoral level activities. Participate in DCG committee activities and assume responsibilities as appropriate. Measures of success include peer and student reviews, significant course contributions and innovations, positive course director evaluations, and acceptable annual review by the Chair of teaching effectiveness.
Research(10%)
Engage in research and scholarly activities to achieve development in academic achievement. Goal is to meet research and scholarly benchmarks for promotion per DCG P&T policy.
Clinical/Patient Care (25%)Provide patient care through the DCG Dental Practice Group to maintain practice skills and deliver treatment. Aim to achieve productivity described in Compensation and Benefits. Demonstrate dignity and respect for patients and families, valuing their knowledge, beliefs, cultures, and backgrounds in care planning and delivery.
Service (5%)Engage in university or external professional or service activities as appropriate. Goal is to make contributions in these areas.
Required Qualifications- DMD/DDS from a CODA accredited United States or Canadian dental school.
- Completion of a CODA accredited Advanced Education in Orthodontics or Pediatric Dentistry program.
- Diplomate status in the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry or American Board of Orthodontics.
- BLCS certification.
- Unrestricted license to practice Pediatric Dentistry or Orthodontics or credentials to apply for a teaching license.
- Assistant Professor:
Early level career faculty member with consistent background, education, and training. - Associate Professor:
Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor. - Professor:
Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor. - Consistent with Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) accreditation requirements.
- Evidence of ability as a teacher.
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned.
- Successful experience (waived for new entrants meeting other requirements).
- Desirable personal qualities judged by interview, biographical data, and recommendations.
- Significant clinical experience.
- Prior experience in dental education and academic dentistry.
Salary and Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year‐round. The intended work commitment is 1.0 FTE, considered full time.
Salary and compensation for each rank (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor) is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements and subject to availability of funds.
