The Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a clinically oriented ABIM board‑certified faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor. The role emphasizes clinical care, education, and scholarly activity in both inpatient and outpatient services. Opportunities exist to work with house staff, fellows, and physician extenders.
Education and clinical research will be available based on experience and expertise. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.
- Outpatient Infectious Disease Practice – 40%: develop a robust outpatient practice, staffing two half days per week at the Wellstar downtown practice sites and/or satellite locations and staff fellow’s clinic as needed.
- Inpatient Infectious Disease Consult Services – 20%: participate in inpatient consult services; other clinical duties will be adjusted during inpatient service periods.
- Call Schedules – 5%: participate in night and weekend call schedules similar to colleagues.
- Infectious Disease Procedures and Consultations – 25%: engage in hospital‑based procedures and consultations.
- Teaching/Research – 10%: supervise and teach medical students, residents, and fellows; participate in scholarly activities including case reports, review articles and original scientific reports.
- MD/DO or equivalent.
- Board eligible or board certified in Infectious Disease.
- State of Georgia medical license before seeing patients.
- Assistant Professor: early‑level career faculty with appropriate post‑graduate training.
- Associate Professor: mid‑level career with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training.
- Professor: senior‑level with at least five years at rank of Associate Professor or comparable training.
- Consistent with SACSCOC accreditation requirements; evidence of teaching, scholarship and other duties; personal qualities judged at interview.
This position is fiscal year based and works year‑round. Full‑time equivalent (FTE) is 1.0. Salary is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements and subject to availability of funds. Tuition Assistance Program is available after 6 months of employment. Rank and salary determined at hire based on experience, credentials and market data.
