Instructor – Limited Term, Otolaryngology

Job Summary

The Medical College of Georgia (MCG), Department of Otolaryngology at Augusta University (AU) is seeking a full‑time faculty member at the Instructor level. The faculty member will focus on the education and development of outstanding clinicians according to core competencies of patient care, medical knowledge, practice‑based learning, communication, professionalism, and systems‑based practice. Opportunities include teaching medical students and residents and participating in scholarly activities.

Duties include patient care, resident teaching, and academic productivity. The position comprises a clinical appointment in the Department of Otolaryngology at a level commensurate with credentials and experience. The Otolaryngologist will participate in committees, present cases in case conferences, manage patient workups and procedures per department guidelines, and adopt tools and technologies deemed part of the University. This position does not meet tenure track criteria and is limited to one fiscal year.

Responsibilities
  • Educate Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery residents and medical students
  • Care for Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery patients
  • Perform research in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery
Required Qualifications
  • Earned a Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university; must have or be eligible for a Georgia medical license.
  • Board‑certified in Otolaryngology or eligible for board certification.
  • Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements for institutional accreditation.
  • Evidence of ability as a teacher.
  • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned.
  • Successful experience (which will be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements).
  • Desirable personal qualities judged during interview, biographical data, and recommendations.
Shift / Salary / Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year‑round. The intended work commitment is full‑time (FTE = 1.0). Salary and compensation are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements and are subject to availability of funds. Rank and salary are determined at hire and based on experience, education, credentials, specialty, training, and internal market data. The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 304 students per class.
