The Division of Neonatology in the Department of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University is actively seeking a full‑time faculty position to provide clinical care for the neonatal patient population in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Responsibilities include diagnosing and treating a wide range of disorders, consultations, acute care, ordering and interpreting lab results, developing treatment plans, patient/family education, maintaining accurate patient records, and sharing weekday, weekend, and holiday emergent/after‑hours call coverage.

This position is not on a tenure track.

Responsibilities
  • Become board certified in Neonatology by year three (3) or maintain board certification.
  • Provide high‑quality, comprehensive care in Neonatology to improve quality, safety, and patient experience.
  • Be clinically productive through the provision of clinical services at MCG’s partner Academic Medical Center.
  • Participate in on‑call duties with other faculty.
  • Meet all metrics associated with Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE).
  • Become increasingly productive through the provision of clinical services in Neonatology.
  • Meet and maintain wRVU productivity targets set by the department chair and MCG Dean’s Office.
  • Support departmental efforts in promoting good professional relationships with MCG physicians and physicians outside of MCG (referring physicians in the community, region, and state).
  • Provide prompt feedback to referring physicians.
  • Provide education and training to fellows, residents, medical students, and staff in neonatology, including clinical supervision, consultation, and didactics.
  • Achieve and maintain teaching evaluation scores at or above the department mean.
  • Attend 50% or more of weekly pediatric Grand Rounds presentations and monthly faculty meetings.
Required Qualifications

Medical degree from an accredited medical school/university or equivalent; board certified/board eligible in Neonatology; eligible for a state of Georgia medical license; federal DEA license; PALS/CPR certified.

Assistant Professor: Early‑career faculty member with appropriate postgraduate training.

Associate Professor: Mid‑career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor (or comparable).

Professor: Senior‑career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor (or comparable).

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions:

  • Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements for institutional accreditation.
  • Evidence of ability as a teacher.
  • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned.
  • Successful experience (waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements).
  • Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Shift / Salary / Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year‑round, with a full‑time equivalent (FTE) of 1.0.

  • Assistant Professor: Salary and compensation commensurate with education, experience, and achievements; subject to availability of funds.
  • Associate Professor: Salary and compensation commensurate with education, experience, and achievements; subject to availability of funds.
  • Professor: Salary and compensation commensurate with education, experience, and achievements; subject to availability of funds.
