Position: Open Rank-Clinical Faculty in Radiology and Imaging

Job Summary

Job . Position # . The Department of Radiology and Imaging in the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a board certified/board eligible faculty member at the rank of Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor to serve as a radiologist. Duties include teaching medical students, supervising residents, mentoring fellows and providing clinical care to patients. Candidates will provide clinical services at Augusta University Medical Center, Children's Hospital of Georgia and our freestanding outpatient imaging center.

Responsibilities
  • Clinical / Patient Care – 60%. Interpret a wide range of neuroimaging studies; provide advanced imaging consultation and collaboration with neurosurgery, neurology, neuro‑oncology, head & neck surgery, spine surgery, epilepsy service, etc.; perform or assist in neuroradiology‑related procedures; participate in emergent neuroradiology work (stroke imaging, trauma, acute neurovascular imaging); on‑call coverage/weekend/emergent reading in neuroimaging.
  • Teaching & Education – 10%. Supervise residents and fellows in neuroradiology, oversee their interpretation, guide procedural training, mentor; deliver didactic lectures, case conferences, journal clubs in neuroradiology topics; participate in multidisciplinary conferences where neuroradiology input is needed.
  • Research / Scholarly Activity – 10%. Initiate or participate in research projects in advanced imaging, imaging techniques, neurovascular disease, brain tumor imaging, imaging biomarkers, etc.; publish findings in peer‑reviewed journals, present at national meetings; seek external or internal funding/grants to support neuroradiology research.
  • Service / Administrative – 10%. Participate in quality assurance and imaging protocol development specific to neuroimaging; peer review of neuroradiology interpretations; second reads; oversight of fellows/residents reports; help plan or maintain imaging facilities used in neuroimaging to ensure the department has access to up‑to‑date technology.
  • Other Duties – 10%. Participation in continuing medical education to stay current with neuroradiology techniques & standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Graduated from an approved medical university; possesses a Medical Degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.
  • Fellowship training in Neuroradiology.
  • Board‑certification/eligibility by the American Board of Radiology.
  • Ability to obtain a Georgia medical license.
  • Competent in all aspects of diagnostic neuroradiology.
  • For rank‐specific expectations:
    Instructor – medical professional in training holding a medical degree and completed residency;
    Assistant Professor – early‑career faculty with appropriate postgraduate training;
    Associate Professor – mid‑career faculty with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable;
    Professor – senior faculty with at least five years at rank of Associate Professor or comparable.
  • Consistent with SACSCOC requirements; evidence of teaching ability; evidence of scholarly activity; successful teaching experience; desirable personal qualities judged on interview, biographical data, and recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in interventional neuroradiology procedures (e.g., epidural injections, biopsies, vertebral augmentation) is a plus but not required.

Shift / Salary / Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year‑round. Intended Work Commitment: 1.0 FTE, full‑time. Salary and compensation are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements, and subject to availability of funds for all ranks.
