Job Summary
The Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University seeks a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor to serve as the Center of Operational Medical Director. The role involves supervising instructors, staff, and faculty across several functional areas including Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Tactical and Military Medicine, Disaster Medicine, Wilderness Medicine, International Medicine, Maritime Medicine, and Concierge Medicine.
Responsibilities- Administration (30%) – Supervise the center’s staff and faculty; lead the National Training Center East for the National Disaster Life Support Foundation (NDLSF) program; monitor NDLS courses domestically and internationally; collaborate with the AU Critical Event Preparedness and Response (CEPAR) team; liaise with state and regional EMS offices, national EMS professional organizations, federal and state law‑enforcement agencies, and the Army Emergency Medicine Residency.
- Training and Education (60%) – Supervise, instruct, and coordinate tactical medicine education (TCCC, TECC, STORM); support local Special Response Teams; lead Critical Care Transport and Paramedic training; provide medical support for community events; oversee continuing educational programs such as Basic Trauma Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Life Support, pre‑hospital pediatric education, and EMS in‑service courses; maintain current knowledge of EMS services.
- Quality and Research (10%) – Assist in clinical or laboratory research projects; identify funding opportunities and participate in grant submissions; supervise quality improvement processes for EMS services; ensure proper maintenance of equipment, medications, and supplies for EMS and concierge medicine; oversee scheduling of EMS response vehicles.
- Terminal degree and faculty rank appropriate to level (Assistant, Associate, or Professor). The typical career levels are:
Early‑career (Assistant), Mid‑career (Associate with ≥5 years as Assistant or equivalent), Senior (Professor with ≥5 years as Associate or equivalent). - Compliance with Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) institutional accreditation requirements.
- Demonstrated teaching ability and scholarly activity.
- Successful teaching experience (waived for new faculty who otherwise meet all other criteria).
- Positive personal qualities, as judged by interview, biographical data, and recommendations.
• Fiscal year position, year‑round; FTE 1.0 (full‑time).
• Salary commensurate with education, experience, and achievements, subject to funding availability (Assistant, Associate, and Professor levels).
