Job SummaryThe Department of Cellular Biology and Anatomy (CBA), Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University (AU), is seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. Preference will be given to applicants whose research interests are in musculoskeletal biology, but the research expertise of qualified applicants may be within or complementary to the existing research expertise in CBA that includes aging, bone/muscle metabolism, renal biology and diseases, diseases of the eye, and cellular polarity.
The successful candidate will be expected to establish and develop an innovative and independent research program that will attract and maintain extramural funding from government agencies (e.g. the National Institutes of Health), private foundations, and/or industry. The successful candidate will receive a nationally competitive start‑up package, be expected to establish and maintain an extramurally funded research program and participate in teaching.

- Teach in the Medical College of Georgia and/or the School of Graduate Studies and mentor graduate students.
- Establish vigorous independent extramurally funded research program/s to complement research strengths and goals of DNRM and the University.
- Participate on various committees and provide public and professional service to the community and the department/college/University/USG.
A doctoral degree in Medicine or PhD in Biological Sciences. Candidates at the Assistant Professor level must demonstrate a strong potential for research including obtaining extramural funding. Candidates at the Associate Professor and Professor level must possess external funding at the NIH R01 level and demonstrate potential for its continuation. Assistant Professor – Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.
Associate Professor – Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience. Professor – Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Should have extramural funding and demonstrate potential for its continuation.
Shift/Salary/BenefitsThis position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full‑time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full‑time.
Assistant Professor – Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
