Job Summary
The Department of Oral Biology in the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University seeks a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor to teach dental students, dental residents, and graduate students. Responsibilities include developing and delivering head and neck anatomy and/or neuroanatomy lectures, assisting in the gross anatomy laboratory, and directing one or more courses.

- Teaching – 50%:
Develop and deliver head and neck anatomy and/or neuroanatomy lectures; assist in the gross anatomy laboratory; direct one or more courses; demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills. - Research/Scholarship – 45%:
Conduct independent research and collaborate with faculty within and outside the Dental College of Georgia; develop an extramurally funded research program. - Service – 5%:
Engage in service activities as needed by the department, college, institution, and scientific community.
- Ph.D. in anatomy, neurobiology, or a related field, and/or a medical or dental qualification (MD, DDS, or foreign equivalent).
- Productive record of scholarship of national significance, preferably related to diseases of the head and neck.
- Record of didactic instruction.
- Demonstrated record of or potential for: teaching in anatomy or a related field; obtaining extramural funding; a strong publication record; postdoctoral training.
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) accreditation requirements.
- Evidence of ability as a teacher and as a scholar.
- Successful experience (waived for those just entering the profession who meet all other requirements).
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of interview, biographical data, and recommendations.
- Teaching experience in gross anatomy of head, neck, and brain.
- Teaching in systematic anatomy.
- Experience writing and submitting research funding applications.
This fiscal‑year based position works year‑round and is full‑time (1.0 FTE). Salary and compensation for Assistant, Associate, and Professor ranks are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements and are subject to availability of funds.
