Job Summary
The Department of Community and Behavioral Health Sciences at Augusta University School of Public Health invites applications for a 12‑month, tenure‑track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. The selected candidate will develop a cohesive, extramurally funded research portfolio, teach graduate courses, and mentor students. An expected teaching load is two courses per year.
Responsibilities- Teaching – 25%:
Teach two courses per year and oversee graduate theses and capstone projects. - Service – 5%:
Serve on department, school, campus, community, state, and national committees; conduct peer review for journals, funding agencies, and professional societies; support community events. - Research/Scholarship – 70%:
Build and maintain a high‑impact research program as Principal Investigator; serve as team scientist on other university research projects; solicit extramural funding; publish in high‑impact journals; present research at regional, national, and international meetings; conduct community‑engaged activities to disseminate and implement research.
- Doctoral Degree (DrPH or PhD) in a public health related discipline (health behavior, sociology, psychology, preventive medicine, or epidemiology).
- Experience working with projects related to rural and underserved communities.
- Assistant Professor – early‑career faculty with appropriate post‑graduate training.
- Associate Professor – mid‑career faculty with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or comparable experience.
- Professor – senior‑career faculty with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable experience.
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) accreditation requirements.
- Evidence of teaching excellence, scholarly activity, and ability in all other duties assigned.
- Successful experience (waived for new faculty meeting other requirements).
- Desirable personal qualities assessed during interview, biographical review, and recommendations.
Evidence of teaching and research experience commensurate with rank.
Shift/Salaries & BenefitsThis is a fiscal year‑based position, full‑time (1.0 FTE), year‑round. Salary is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements and is subject to funding availability. Faculty employed more than six months may be considered for the Tuition Assistance Program.
