Job SummaryThe Medical College of Georgia's Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM) at Augusta University seeks a full‑time faculty member (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor) to support teaching, scholarship, and service amid growth in undergraduate medical education, the Family Medicine Residency Program, and Wellstar MCG Health primary care clinical services. The position is a Clinician Educator who will oversee prenatal care within the Family Medicine Clinic, care on the Labor and Delivery deck including surgical interventions, and educate medical learners in delivering care to pregnant patients.
Responsibilities- Oversee the provision of prenatal care within the Family Medicine Clinic and educate medical learners in delivering care to pregnant patients.
- Periodically provide didactic education to medical students and residents.
- Engage in prescribed faculty development and mentoring programs to facilitate the use of Patient‑and‑Family‑Centered Care (PFCC) instructional environments, meet UME and GME requirements, and promote scholarship and professional progression.
- Provide teaching and attending support for learners in the Family Medicine GME program.
- Provide support for student, resident, and postgraduate core and continuing medical education.
- Engage in clinical and educational scholarship; disseminate results at local, regional, and national peer‑reviewed venues.
- Develop a clinical practice to support the Family Medicine Maternal/Newborn clinical and educational services.
- MD, DO, or equivalent; completed an ACGME‑accredited OB‑GYN or Family Medicine residency and an FM‑OB fellowship; eligible for licensure in Georgia and credentialing at MCG's partner Academic Medical Center.
- Assistant Professor: early‑career faculty member with appropriate postgraduate training.
- Associate Professor: mid‑level faculty with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or comparable experience.
- Professor: senior‑level faculty with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable experience.
- Consistent with Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) institutional accreditation requirements.
- Evidence of ability as a teacher, scholar, and to carry out all assigned duties.
- Successful experience (waived for those newly entering the profession who meet all other requirements).
- Desirable personal qualities judged in interview, biographical data, and recommendations.
- Prior experience teaching medical learners, especially family medicine residents.
- Post‑residency experience as a practicing physician.
The position is fiscal year based and works year‑round with a full‑time equivalent (FTE) of 1.0. Salary and compensation are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements and are subject to availability of funds across all academic ranks.
