Overview

Instructors are responsible for delivering educational materials utilizing sound educational practices focused on the successful academic development of each student. They facilitate the development of knowledge and skills in the student's chosen field to help them achieve their educational and career goals. Instructors promote an engaging, dynamic, student‑centered learning environment and provide support, tutoring, and other assistance as needed. They lead by example, model professional behavior centered on ethical conduct with a focus on the Ancora Education Mission and Core Values.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize classroom and lab instruction, student assessment mechanisms, and classroom management techniques to provide an engaged educational experience.
  • Ensure students receive the material necessary to meet the learning objectives of each course.
  • Prepare instructional materials and equipment, ensuring sufficient quantity, proper maintenance, and functionality.
  • Participate in ongoing faculty assessment and professional development activities to maintain an up‑to‑date classroom experience; maintain required certification and licensure.
  • Actively participate in meetings, review and analyze assessment data, compile reports, and meet academic and administrative deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and regulatory guidelines, along with internal company policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience and Education Required
  • Active certification or licensure, where required.
  • Three (3) years of practical work experience in the field of instruction for non‑degree and occupational associate degree technical/occupational courses.
  • Four (4) years of practical work experience and a related degree at least at the same level as the course for academic associate or bachelor’s degree technical/occupational courses. Online faculty must hold a master’s degree in the content area or equivalent graduate credit hours.
  • Exceptional cases: eight (8) years of practical work experience may substitute for required experience.
  • Master’s degree with appropriate coursework for general education courses – 18 semester hours of coursework.
  • Some states require 18 semester hours at the master’s level.
  • Documented prior teaching experience or completion of new instructor training before beginning to teach.
  • Highest levels of integrity and professionalism in all aspects.
  • Solid computer software skills (Microsoft Office or Google Workspace).
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills with success in collaborating with diverse groups.
  • Ability to work in an observation/coaching style environment.
  • Capability to prioritize, accept responsibility, and work within deadlines.
  • Superior organizational and problem‑resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service.
  • Ability to qualify as an instructor per institutional and accreditation standards.
Experience and Education Preferred
  • Previous experience teaching in a proprietary education setting.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and accreditation regulations applicable to the proprietary education industry.
Physical Demands

The role requires occasional standing, walking, sitting, and handling items up to 25 pounds. Employees must use hands to manipulate objects, reach with arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and engage in mouth or sensory functions. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer are required.
