Job Summary

This position will work across faculty, campus administration, and employers to identify and implement best practices in the workflows of internship experiences across credit-based internships, non-credit-based internships, and cooperative education assignments. The role will lead internship development, process improvements, and policy alignment for the campus. Additionally, this role will oversee the Jags On Campus internship program, which includes the operation of paid, undergraduate interns across campus throughout the academic year.

The Assistant Director will supervise two FTEs: an Internship Coordinator for the Jags On-Campus program and a Cyber Career Success Coordinator based in the Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center (GCITC). This Assistant Director position requires a high attention to detail, the ability to establish rapport and partnerships across internal and external stakeholders, and manage critical projects that help support the University's strategic goal to maintain the Carnegie Classification for Community Engagement.

Responsibilities
  • Career Services Professionalism/Teamwork/Leadership

    Maintain professional affiliations and memberships to represent the university and Career Services. Focus on professional development, conferences, workshops, and technology instruction. Conduct all roles and responsibilities as a professional model to students and as a representative of the university. Always maintain positive customer service relations with internal and external customers by being polite, punctual, flexible, organized, and accessible. Establish seamless communication with Career Services colleagues to keep informed of office initiatives and collaborate on office issues in a timely and professional manner.

  • Internship Program Development External to Campus

    Build partnerships between the university and external communities to facilitate applied learning and employment opportunities for students. Lead projects ensuring a highly collaborative, efficient, and service-friendly internship process. Expand and nurture employer relationships through outreach, marketing, and facilitation of partnerships. Collaborate with faculty for relevant employer internship experiences and ensure seamless points of service. Facilitate on-campus recruitment initiatives, develop and utilize a tracking system, and generate monthly reports.

    Represent Career Services at corporate and campus functions to gain exposure across the community, state, and region.

  • Lead the Jags on Campus Internship (JOC) Program

    Manage the JOC program budget ($250,000+), oversee the Campus Internship Coordinator, and ensure timely and consistent operations. Establish timelines and deliverables across Human Resources to onboard 50+ campus interns each semester. Manage payroll, training of site mentors, professional development, and operational lifecycle. Develop training and development programs for mentors and interns. Evaluate program effectiveness and continuously improve the program. Ensure alignment with the campus student employment framework.

  • Career Services Administration

    Provide advising to students and recent graduates on career and professional development. Lead and facilitate faculty relationships tied to internship matters. Manage the Cooperative Education program including agreements, eligibility, and course registration. Educate constituents about tools, resources, and services for career planning. Generate marketing materials, develop programs, and collaborate with academic programs to align resources. Maintain expertise on Career Services technology and campus systems.

    Maintain databases and student files for reporting.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited college or university; minimum two years of experience in career development, higher education administration, human resources, or a related area.
