Job Summary
The Department of Radiology Nuclear Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University is recruiting a full‑time faculty member at the rank of Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. The successful candidate will have an interest in teaching medical students and radiology residents, and will provide clinical service, teaching, and opportunities for clinical research in a busy tertiary and qua ternary care center with ACGME‑accredited residency programs.
Academic time is provided and new research projects are encouraged. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.
- Interpret Nuclear Medicine imaging studies, including PET/CT, and collaborate with pulmonologists, thoracic surgeons, oncologists, and other specialties in multidisciplinary care settings.
- Provide didactic and case‑based teaching to medical students, residents, and fellows, participate in departmental educational conferences and journal clubs, and mentor trainees in clinical practice and research.
- Engage in clinical or translational research within thoracic imaging, contribute to publications, presentations, and grant activity, and support departmental research initiatives and collaborative studies.
- Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and departmental quality improvement efforts; assist in developing and updating clinical protocols and educational materials; and contribute to the strategic goals of the department and institution.
- Maintain board certification and licensure, engage in continuing medical education (CME) activities, and represent the department at local, regional, or national radiology meetings and societies.
- MD, DO or equivalent from a suitably accredited institution.
- Instructor: medical professional in training who holds a medical degree and has completed residency training.
- Assistant Professor: early‑level faculty member with appropriate postgraduate training.
- Associate Professor: mid‑level faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor.
- Professor: senior‑level faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor.
- Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions include: compliance with SACSCOC institutional accreditation requirements; evidence of teaching ability; evidence of scholarly activity and ability in other duties; successful experience (waived for new entrants meeting all other criteria); and desirable personal qualities judged on interview, biographical data, and recommendations.
This position is fiscal‑year based and works year‑round, with a full‑time commitment of 1.0 FTE. Salary and compensation for the Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor ranks are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements, subject to available funds.
