Job DescriptionThe Building Brains After school Behavior Specialist supports the after school program team by assisting students with challenging behaviors, emotional regulation needs, or social skills. The incumbent will maintain familiarity with Individual Education Plans (IEP) and Behavior Retention Plans (BIP), provide coaching and professional development for team members, and collaborate on social‑emotional enrichment plans.
Essential Duties- Implement behavior intervention strategies and individualized behavior plans.
- Monitor and document student behavior, progress, and potential triggers.
- Support emotional regulation and social‑emotional skill development.
- Collaborate with after school staff, teachers, and administrators to ensure consistency.
- Model positive behavior strategies and coach staff as needed.
- Respond to behavioral incidents using deescalation tactics and trauma‑informed practices.
- Create a safe, structured, and inclusive environment for all students.
- Communicate with families regarding student progress or concerns in a positive and informative way.
- Provide professional development related to behavior management and child development.
$21.00 per hour
Minimum Qualifications- Associate’s degree in Behavioral Science, Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or a closely related field.
- Three years of experience working with and monitoring school‑aged children in an organized camp, after school, daycare, or similar setting (preferred).
- Equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties.
- CPR/First Aid certification (must be obtained within first 90 days).
- Fingerprinting requirement.
- Bachelor’s degree in one of the aforementioned fields.
- Three years of experience working with and monitoring school‑aged children in an organized camp, after school, daycare, or similar setting.
