Assistant Professor in Respiratory Therapy
The College of Allied Health Sciences at Augusta University is seeking an Assistant Professor to teach in the Respiratory Therapy Program. The role includes didactic and clinical instruction (excluding patient care), supervisory clinical teaching, scholarship (research, presentations, publications), and service to the institution and professional community through committee work.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office and related software/databases.
- Teaching – 80%
Teach assigned courses to meet program and curriculum needs, provide clinical education supervision, support program evaluation, and contribute to curriculum development. Mentor faculty colleagues and clinical educators and maintain professional connections with relevant organizations, community partners, advisory boards, and accreditation bodies.
- Scholarship – 10%
Engage in ongoing scholarly work, producing peer‑reviewed publications, presentations, funded research, and disseminating findings to advance the field.
- Service – 10%
Participate in student recruitment, admissions, and advising; serve on departmental, college, and institutional committees; support student success initiatives, professional development, and community outreach and advocacy.
- Master’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field.
- At least 4 years as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
- At least 2 years of teaching in a CoARC‑accredited program or experience as a clinical instructor/preceptor for such students.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RTT) credential and eligibility for a Georgia RCP license.
- Early‑level Assistant Professor: 0–4 years of experience in the field.
- Compliance with Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) accreditation requirements.
- Demonstrated ability as a teacher, scholar, and in other duties assigned.
Doctoral degree, specialty credentials, or additional years of experience.
Shift / Salary / BenefitsThis is a fiscal‑year based, full‑time position (1.0 FTE). The salary and compensation are commensurate with education, experience, and achievement, and are subject to funds availability. Full‑time employees with at least six months of service may qualify for Tuition Assistance.
Rank and salary will be determined at hire and are based on experience, education, credentials, training, and internal equity and market data.
