Preschool Teacher - P-Certified

Job Summary

Preschool Teacher – P‑3 Certified (Head Start program) responsible for providing instructional, assessment, and positive behavioral support strategies for up to 15 children aged 3‑5 years in a Head Start classroom.

• Implement a child‑centered curriculum and learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement, and self‑motivation to promote development in all domains for children of all abilities.
• Address challenging behaviors by observing, determining causes, implementing preventive measures, teaching new social and communication skills, and partnering with families to support the child at home.
• Use observations of children and anecdotal notes to document progress and individualize curriculum.
• Create partnerships with families to establish positive interaction patterns in program, school, and home.
• Provide classroom experiences that are developmentally, linguistically, culturally, and age appropriate.
• Provide a print‑rich environment in which children develop literacy, numeracy, and social skills using increasingly complex language and problem‑solving abilities.
• Implement daily lesson plans in response to children’s needs and interests incorporating observations, anecdotal record keeping, knowledge of early childhood development, and key experiences.
• Integrate Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for children with disabilities.
• Provide children with a consistent classroom routine.
• Supervise and ensure safety and security of children in accordance with Head Start and daycare licensing requirements.
• Supervise and prepare nutritionally prepared meals with children as a curriculum activity, modeling good nutrition and social skills.
• Supervise all classroom field trips and outdoor activities.
• Assess children on an ongoing basis, gathering and organizing anecdotal notes into key domains and documents for Creative Curriculum.
• Analyze child outcomes on a classroom basis twice yearly, consult with education coordinator, and adjust curriculum planning and implementation as needed.

This 10‑month position pays $59,127 to $73,575 annually based on education and experience.
