Position: Assistant Provost for Faculty Development
* Job Summary

The Assistant Provost for Faculty Development provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for comprehensive faculty development initiatives across Augusta University. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and assessing programs that support faculty success at all career stages, including new faculty onboarding, ongoing professional development, and faculty recognition initiatives.

The position collaborates closely with academic units, Faculty Senate, and campus partners to identify development needs, deliver high-impact programming, and foster a culture of continuous growth and excellence. The Assistant Provost oversees key initiatives such as new faculty integration, workshops and learning communities, faculty engagement events, and recognition programs, while ensuring effective communication, resource management, and program assessment.

This role also leads strategic event planning, strengthens campus partnerships, and supports institutional priorities through innovative faculty development programming that enhances teaching, scholarship, service, student success, and professional development.

Responsibilities

Faculty Development Programming

Design and implement comprehensive faculty development initiatives across career stages

Coordinate professional development workshops, seminars, and learning communities

Collaborate with academic units and Faculty Senate to identify and address faculty development needs

Manage faculty development resources

Track and assess effectiveness of development programming through surveys and feedback

New Faculty Integration and Development

Coordinate comprehensive two-day New Faculty Conference

Collaborate with HR and colleges to maintain current new faculty databases

Develop and manage monthly new faculty orientation assignments through learning platforms

Create digital resources and promotional materials for new faculty support

Coordinate campus resource fairs connecting new faculty with institutional support

Ongoing Faculty Support Programming

Schedule and help facilitate virtual faculty development webinars and Q&A sessions

Maintain registration systems and feedback mechanisms for all programming

Manage targeted communications to faculty development participants

Partner with academic units and Faculty Senate to engage presenters and facilitators

Strategic Event Planning and Management

Plan and execute Faculty Affairs and Faculty Senate events

Coordinate venue preparations, room scheduling, and comprehensive event setup

Assist with vendor relationships for catering, equipment, technology, and recognition materials

Recruit, train, and supervise event volunteers from across campus

Faculty Recognition and Celebration

Oversee comprehensive faculty celebration programming

Collect and coordinate university-level and college faculty awards and recognition

Partner with academic units to highlight faculty achievements

Design communication materials that celebrate and promote faculty excellence

Manage logistics from invitation through post-event follow-up and impact assessment

Support Faculty Senate Development Committee with awards processes and recognition initiatives

Communications and Partnership Building

Manage internal communications focused on faculty affairs

Maintain current website content highlighting development resources and achievements

Serve as liaison with Communications Council and Commencement Committee

Build strategic campus partnerships to support comprehensive faculty development

Oversee faculty appreciation initiatives that reinforce development culture

Required Qualifications

Doctoral degree from an accredited institution.

Eligibility for appointment as a tenured associate or full professor within one of Augusta University
¿ s colleges.

A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in faculty development and academic programming.

A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience as a faculty member in higher education.

Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning principles and professional development practices.

Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills.
