Job Summary
Position:
Full‑time faculty (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor) – tenure track.
Location:
Georgia Prevention Institute (GPI), Medical College of Georgia (MCG), Augusta University, Augusta, GA.
The successful candidate will conduct human subjects research and develop an independent research program that attracts extramural funding from government agencies, private foundations, and industry. The program should complement GPI faculty expertise and integrate with university initiatives in aging, immunology, nutrition, cardiovascular disease, and cancer.
Responsibilities- Establish an independent, nationally recognized research program with impactful publications in high‑quality peer‑reviewed journals.
- Pursue external funding from federal agencies, foundations, or other relevant sources to sustain the research program.
- Provide service activities benefiting GPI, the University, the profession, and the public at large.
- Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a biomedical-related field from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated experience with human subjects research.
- Evidence of strong potential to secure external funding.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Early‑career faculty:
Assistant Professor rank; mid‑career faculty:
Associate Professor rank with at least five years of prior faculty experience; senior‑career faculty:
Professor rank with at least five years of prior Associate Professor experience. - Compliance with Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements for institutional accreditation.
- Demonstrated teaching ability and scholarship across related duties.
- Successful experiences or documentation for those new to academia to meet teaching, scholarship, and service standards.
- Postdoctoral research or prior academic faculty experience.
- History of obtaining and maintaining extramural funding.
Full‑time (1.0 FTE), fiscal‑year based, year‑round schedule.
Salary and compensation are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements, subject to availability of funds.
